Welcome to the Division of Local Health. Our mission is to enhance the framework and provide support for local health department employees and local boards of health as they deliver public health services and improve community health.

The West Virginia Division of Local Health serves as the state liaison to local health departments. The Division:

• Provides and coordinates technical assistance and training to local health departments.
• Administers funding for Basic Public Health Services, Emergency Fund Committee, and the Turning Point Project.
• Maintains and reviews each local health department's general plan of operation.
• Develops and implements performance improvement strategies for state and local governmental public health agencies.
