This page provides information for individuals who have special recruitment needs in defined populations.
These geographically defined regions, called Health Professional Shortage Areas, Medically Underserved Areas/Populations, and Dental and Mental Health Professional Shortage Areas, provide the basis for state and national scholarship and loan repayment programs and for eligibility of J-1 Visa Waivers.
The Bureau of Health Professions, Department of Health and Human Services, maintains a searchable database for these designations.
